A prolific biblical scholar and theologian who produced the Hexapla, a six-column comparison of Old Testament texts; regarded as controversial on certain doctrines. The scripture connection is interpretive: 2 Timothy 2:15 speaks of 'rightly handling the word of truth,' which characterizes his textual scholarship, though the text does not name him.
