Ya'akov

Named among the brothers of Jesus (Matthew 13:55; Mark 6:3). Paul calls him ‘the Lord’s brother’ and one of the pillars in Jerusalem (Galatians 1:19; 2:9), and the risen Jesus appeared to him (1 Corinthians 15:7). He spoke the judgment at the Jerusalem council (Acts 15:13-21) and is generally taken to be the writer of the letter of James (James 1:1). He is distinct from the two apostles named James. His birth and death are not recorded in scripture; the bar reflects an estimate.
