Miryam

A virgin of Nazareth betrothed to Joseph, told by the angel Gabriel that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and bear the Son of the Most High; she answered, ‘Let it be to me according to your word’ (Luke 1:26-38). She gave birth to Jesus (Luke 2:6-7), was present at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-5) and at the cross, where Jesus committed her to the disciple he loved (John 19:25-27). She was among those gathered in prayer after the ascension (Acts 1:14). Her birth and death are not recorded; the bar reflects an estimate.
