The son of Kish, anointed by Samuel as the first king over Israel when Samuel poured a flask of oil on his head (1 Samuel 10:1). Wounded in battle against the Philistines on Mount Gilboa, he took his own sword and fell upon it (1 Samuel 31:4). This bar reflects his reign.
